After the international successes of Brazil and Ireland, it's London's turn to enter the global party once again with the 40th regular season game to be played in the capital as the Cleveland Browns take on the Minnesota Vikings.
And that is just one of several fascinating games on the slate in NFL Week 5. There is a big challenge for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, a showdown between battling quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold; as well as a Monday Night Football contest that will tell us a little more about the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Here is what I will be keeping a close eye on in NFL Week 5.
A NEW BEGINNING AT TOTTENHAM…
After suffering through some offensive struggles in the first month of the season, the 1-3 Cleveland Browns are making a fresh start at quarterback; handing rookie Dillon Gabriel his first NFL start. They will certainly hope that he can make Cleveland more watchable and competitive… and that he will stick around.
The third-round pick will be the 41st starting quarterback for the Browns since they re-entered the NFL in 1999. That's 11 more than any other NFL team during that span. Such consistent change at the game's most important position has certainly held the Browns back.
It won't be easy for Gabriel as he goes against Brian Flores' complex and diverse defense. But what makes this a tough game to call at Tottenham is the fact that things won't be easy for Minnesota QB Carson Wentz, either. He was sacked six times in Dublin last week and now faces the number one defense in the league, led by Myles Garrett.
CAN THE EAGLES KEEP WINNING?
The only consistent thing in the Philadelphia Eagles' season to date has been their ability to win games. And that, after all, is the most important statistic in any sport. The Eagles always find a way to get the job done and have now won 20 of their last 21 contests, including a Super Bowl.
Along the way, there have been bumps in the road. Jalen Hurts has produced one decent half of football in each of the past two games and was non-existent in the others. Saquon Barkley has yet to hit full speed in 2025 and the passing game targets drift in and out of the plans.
The Denver Broncos bring a fearsome pass defense capable of taking on Hurts and his receiving targets. But do they have enough on offense? Bo Nix through the air and JK Dobbins on the ground worked to good effect in a Week 4 win over Cincinnati, but these Eagles are a very different defensive proposition.
BATTLE OF CAREER-SALVAGING QUARTERBACKS
The very fact that Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold are facing off against each other in one of the games of the week is to be celebrated. Mayfield's 3-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the longest of NFL road trips as they head to the Pacific northwest to take on Darnold's 3-1 Seattle Seahawks.
Both quarterbacks were cast aside by the teams that drafted them and both were, briefly, teammates in Carolina in 2022. Mayfield is now on his fourth team, while Darnold is on his fifth. Both will give the opposition chances every now and then but there is no doubt that both are playing well and look like franchise quarterbacks. That is incredible given their respective journeys.
I'll be keeping an eye out for some more Mayfield magic in Week 5. Seattle have one of the toughest defenses in the league, but I fancy the Bucs to sneak this one on the road. One of them will lose on Sunday, but both these quarterbacks have turned into NFL winners.
