San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman returns to Seattle for the first time since suffering a gruesome knee injury in the 2013 NFC Championship game.
The shredded knee cost Bowman all of 2014 and will motivate him Sunday.
"I just want to win, but, of course, some emotions will be inside of me," Bowman said on Friday, via the team's official website. "I plan on revisiting the spot where I went down at and just thanking God for having a chance to be back out there."
That spot was near the end zone where Niners safety Eric Reid knocked Seattle receiver Jermaine Kearse into Bowman's knee. As he collapsed, Bowman forced a fumble, but was unable to maintain control, which the linebacker says he regrets.
"The pain kind of took over I guess," he said. "Letting the ball go was me realizing I was seriously injured. But that's just something that I think is in a football player. The knee is already done, so hold onto the ball is what I wish I would have done to help my team win."
Reporters also asked Bowman about fans at CenturyLink Field dumping popcorn on him while he exited.
"I remember it, and that's been with me for a while," Bowman said. "No matter who gets hurt, you want to make sure they get up on their feet and show some sign of respect. And I don't think the Seahawks fans did that at all. So you can't keep a good man down is basically my message to them."
On Sunday, Bowman will have a chance to visit the site of the injury and deliver his message to Seahawks fans in person.
