Michael Vick trying new gear to prevent head injuries

Michael Vick continues to attempt to protect his body with new equipment as his ailments stack up.

According to a spokesman for UNEQUAL Technologies, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback will don a prototype product under his helmet to ward off concussions if or when he is cleared to return to the field. The cap is called "The Dome," and it's similar to the helmet liner that players such as Ryan Clark of the Pittsburgh Steelers wear.

Vick has missed the past two games with a concussion suffered in the Eagles' loss to the Dallas Cowboys. His status is uncertain for this week's rematch in Dallas. Backup quarterback Nick Foles has started the past two games.

The company says Vick's neurologist recommended the fitting, which occurred Tuesday. Vick is a paid endorser of UNEQUAL Technologies, which also fitted him for rib and chest protection in 2010.
