Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett has teamed up with Marshawn Lynch's agents, the same team that earned Lynch an extension before the 2015 season. And it looks like Bennett has a similar idea.
Per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Bennett's team and the Seahawks came together this week at the scouting combine to talk about a new deal.
Bennett is in the middle of a four-year, $32 million deal he signed back in 2014.
The Seahawks foster an environment of free speech and Bennett has been bullish about deserving a new deal. Many players speak about the concept of teams cutting players who underperform on big deals, but what about the ones who over-perform on small ones?
Bennett has been one of the most dominant pass rushers in the NFL over the past few seasons and would like his extension, or at least the maneuvering of money, to reflect that. In so many ways, he represents the shrewdness that helped build the dominant Seattle defense and the challenge of keeping it all together for the stretch run.
Bennett had 10 sacks over 16 games this season.
