NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Lynch has been fined $50,000 for violating the NFL Media Policy, according to NFL Vice President of Football Communications Michael Signora. Lynch left the Seahawks locker room without speaking to reporters after Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In addition, the league will collect the $50,000 fine that was imposed following violations of the media policy during the 2013 season but held in abeyance in anticipation of future cooperation. All told, Lynch will be docked $100,000.
The NFL Media Policy mandates that players must be available to the media during the practice week at the team facility and in the locker room following all games. NFL Media's Albert Breer was at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday when Lynch made a hasty exit from a circle of reporters.
This isn't the first time Lynch's media-shy tendencies have made headlines. Lynch flirted with skipping Super Bowl Media Day in January, causing an expected uproar. He eventually did make a long enough cameo to inform us he was "just about that action, boss."
There is some irony here that the NFL is grabbing at Lynch's wallet one day after he went to great lengths to return a lost billfold to a local stranger. Consider it a blow against karma-truthers.
