James Harrison slams 'participation trophies'

James Harrison isn't celebrating second place.

The Steelers' pass rusher tapped into Instagram on Saturday to take issue with his sons receiving "two trophies for nothing, participation trophies!"

Harrison, 37, has vowed to take the hardware back to where it came from until his sons are worthy, explaining: "While I am very proud of my boys for everything they do and will encourage them till the day I die ... I'm not about to raise two boys to be men by making them believe that they are entitled to something just because they tried their best."

Added Harrison: "I'm not sorry for believing that everything in life should be earned."

Participation trophies would stand out as a foreign concept to an on-field rock-star of old like Jim Thorpe, but Jim Thorpe would view most of today's society as an alien landscape.

Harrison isn't buying it -- and he isn't about to listen to the invariable parental-themed hot takes about to unfold in the comment section below.
