Jake Locker expected to miss Titans vs. Jaguars

Snakebitten Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake "The Hurt" Locker is on pace to break his own unofficial record for most injurystories in an NFL season.

Battling a nagging thumb injury on his throwing hand, Locker missed practice again on Friday. Although he's listed as "questionable" on the injury report, Locker is expected to sit out Sunday's game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

Charlie Whitehurst is likely to start in Locker's absence, per Wyatt.

After watching Whitehurst invite the Cleveland Browns back into last week's game by ending four consecutive second-half series throwing short of the sticks on third down, we would not be surprised to see strong-armed rookie Zach Mettenberger make his first appearance of the season at some point in Sunday's game.

Locker isn't the only offensive starter expected to be sidelined versus the Jaguars. Running back Shonn Greene is doubtful with a hamstring injury, which means rookie Bishop Sankey is finally ticketed for the lead-back role that coach Ken Whisenhunthinted was coming a week ago.

If the Titans' losing skid reaches five games, Whisenhunt might be tempted to turn the offense over to Mettenberger and Sankey sooner rather than later.
