Jaguars' Knighton making progress, eager to play

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton is taking "baby steps" toward a full recovery from eye surgery.

Knighton donned a helmet at practice Thursday for the first time in organized team activities and went through some individual drills. Although his progress did nothing to alter his planned return - the team wants to limit his work until training camp in July - it provided Knighton an emotional boost.

He says, "I really feel like I could be out there, but just taking it a step at a time."

Coach Mike Mularkey says he is "a little surprised" by Knighton's recovery and adds that Knighton is "taking baby steps right now."

Knighton injured his left eye while trying to break up a bar fight in April.
