Injury roundup: Bengals receiver A.J. Green ruled out

A.J. Green won't return after all.

Despite expressing optimism for the last few weeks about a possible comeback from a hamstring strain, the Bengals officially ruled their star receiver out for their season finale against the Ravens.

Green initially injured his hamstring against the Bills in Week 11 and had hoped to return before season's end. The Bengals wideout will finish the season with 964 yards and four scores on 66 receptions.

Here are other injuries we're tracking Wednesday:

  1. Derek Carr (broken fibula) is an extreme long shot to be ready for a possible Super Bowl LI appearance for the Raiders, sources informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
  1. The Dolphins placed safety Isa Abdul-Qudduson injured reserve.
  1. Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III (concussion), cornerback Joe Haden (neck), defensive back Trey Caldwell (hamstring) and offensive lineman Joe Thomas (knee) all missed practice, per reporters who attended practice. Cornerback Jamar Taylor (groin) was limited.
  1. Redskins tight end Jordan Reed (shoulder) was limited in practice. Coach Jay Gruden told reporters the tight end's progress is a "good sign" for him to play Sunday.
  1. The Cowboys announced they moved defensive end Ryan Davis (knee) to injured reserve.
  1. Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston is still dealing with inflammation in his knee and didn't practice, coach Andy Reid said. Running back Spencer Ware (ribs) took part in practice.
  1. Chargers running back Melvin Gordon (hip/knee) returned to practice and was limited. Gordon hasn't played since Dec. 11.
  1. Lions cornerback Darius Slay (hamstring) returned to practice. He missed Monday night's loss to the Cowboys because of the injury. Running back Theo Riddick (wrist) and receiver Andre Roberts (shoulder) did not practice.
  1. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) and defensive end Mario Addison (foot) were each limited in practice. Wide receiver Devin Funchess (knee), defensive end Charles Johnson (foot), tight end Greg Olsen (elbow) and running back Jonathan Stewart (foot) all didn't practice.
  1. Running back Charles Sims (knee) was placed on IR by the Buccaneers.
  1. Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (core muscle) did not practice. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins (back), safety Nat Berhe (concussion), linebacker B.J. Goodson (concussion) and tight end Will Tye (illness) were limited.
  1. Bears defensive end Leonard Floyd (concussion), linebacker Pernell McPhee (shoulder), linebacker Willie Young (knee), cornerback Tracy Porter (knee and shoulder) and safety Deon Bush (ankle) did not practice.
  1. Eagles guard Allen Barbre (hamstring) and wide receiver Jordan Matthews (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday.
  1. Broncos linebacker DeMarcus Ware (back) was placed on injured reserve.
  1. The Titans announced that quarterback Marcus Mariota underwent successful surgery to repair his fractured fibula. He's expected to be sidelined four to five months.
