The rookie quarterback remains day-to-day, but coach Doug Pederson told reporters that Wentz will toss the ball Saturday for the first time since enduring a string of brutal hits in last week's debut against the Buccaneers.
"We'll test him with some throwing today," Pederson said, "but I'm not going to rush him back."
We view next Saturday's preseason meeting with the Colts as a realistic return date for Wentz, but that will depend on how he responds over the next week.
Other injuries we're tracking on this leisurely/mysterious Saturday:
McCoy announced rookie guard Donavon Clark has a torn ACL. Both Cumberland and Clark are out for the entire season.
- Doug Pederson noted that Eagles seventh-round linebacker Joe Walker will miss the season after suffering an ACL injury in Thursday night's 17-0 win over the Steelers. As our friends at Rotoworld point out, the loss could prompt Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to push for the signing of free-agent linebacker Stephen Tulloch.
- Finally some positive news for the Buffalo Bills: Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News noted that left tackle Cordy Glenn has shed his walking boot. The valued bookend was shelved earlier this month with a high ankle sprain. He isn't expected to play in the preseason, but the hope in Bills Land is that Glenn will be ready for Week 1.
