Potential late-round draft choices and rookie free-agent pickups worked out at the pro days of New Mexico, Northern Illinois, West Texas State and Wyoming this week.
Running back Jhurell Pressley -- 5-foot-10 1/8, 206 -- ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 and 4.41 seconds. He had a 33 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-9 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.06 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.92 seconds. He performed 25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Pressle looked good enough in the pro day workout that he could earn a sixth- or seventh-round draft spot, or be a priority free-agent pickup following the 2016 NFL Draft.
Representatives from 14 NFL teams were present for Northern Illinois' pro day on Friday, when 13 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf.
Cornerback Paris Logan -- 5-9 1/8, 196 -- ran the 40 in 4.59 and 4.55 seconds. He had a 36-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-10 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.23 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.94 seconds. He performed nine reps on the bench press. He worked out pretty good as a corner in the positional drills and is a rookie free-agent possibility following the draft.
Defensive end Perez Ford -- 6-0 1/2, 227 -- is recovering from right ankle surgery and was only able to do the bench press -- 27 reps -- at NIU's pro day. Ford -- who played defensive end for the Huskies, but will be an outside linebacker prospect for the NFL -- will have a pro day on April 5.
West Texas A&M
There were representatives from 16 NFL teams present for West Texas A&M's pro day on Friday. The workout was held outdoors, run on FieldTurf and it featured 15 athletes.
Defensive end Iosia Iosia -- 6-5 1/4, 297 -- ran the 40 in 5.12 and 5.0 seconds. He had a 31-inch vertical and a 9-foot broad jump. he did the short shuttle in 4.78 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.72 seconds. He also performed 16 bench press reps.
Running back Geremy Alridge-Mitchell -- 5-7 5/8, 202 -- ran the 40 in 4.75 seconds on both attempts. He had a 35 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-2 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.78 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.13 seconds. He put the bar up 18 times on the bench press. Alridge-Mitchell had a good pro day workout, and has been compared to New Orleans Saints running back Khiry Robinson, who also went to West Texas A&M.
There were representatives from seven NFL teams at Wyoming's pro day on Thursday, when five players worked out indoors on FieldTurf.
Defensive end Eddie Yarbrough -- 6-2 1/2, 259 -- ran the 40 in 4.75 and 4.84 seconds. He had a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-8 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.41 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.04 seconds. He performed 28 bench press reps. Yarbrough is a possible rookie free-agent pickup for an NFL team.
Wide receiver Justin Berger -- 6-1 3/8, 204 -- ran the 40 in 4.45 and 4.49 seconds; he had an impressive 10-yard time of 1.49 seconds. He had a 37 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-4 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.14 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.87 seconds. Berger -- who has 9 3/8-inch hands -- threw the bar up 20 times on the bench press. Because of these outstanding pro day numbers, Berger might earn another look from an NFL team.
