Florida cornerback Teez Tabor intends to apply for early eligibility to enter the 2017 NFL Draft.
Tabor made his intentions known on Thursday via The Players' Tribune.
The junior is one of the top players at his position in college football, an All-SEC performer who has played in a talented Gators secondary since his freshman season in 2014. He's been suspended multiple times in his Florida career, however, something for which he'll have to answer during interviews with NFL clubs at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
College underclassmen face a Jan. 16 deadline to apply for early draft eligibility.
Tabor played opposite Vernon Hargreaves, who was the No. 11 overall draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2016, for two years at Florida. But while Hargreaves was one of college football's elite cornerbacks, he suggested at the 2016 combine that Tabor was even better. That sentiment was echoed by an AFC personnel executive in November. However, a scout recently told CFB 24/7 that he doesn't think Tabor is a lockdown cornerback. In 12 regular-season games in his final year at UF, Tabor (6-foot, 190 pounds) made 33 tackles with a team-high four interceptions and six pass breakups.
He's the second Gators CB this week to announce intentions to enter draft -- Tabor's teammate and fellow starter, Quincy Wilson, revealed his plans on Tuesday.
