Eagles select Marshall DE Vinny Curry

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Marshall defensive end Vinny Curry with the 59th overall pick in the NFL draft.

The 6-foot-3, 266-pound Curry had 26.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles in his career, including 11 sacks and 22 tackles for a loss as a senior. He gives the Eagles another pass rusher to go with Jason Babin and Trent Cole.

The Eagles traded down from No. 51 to get this pick along with a fourth-round pick from Green Bay. They had acquired the 51st pick in the trade that sent quarterback Kevin Kolb to Arizona last year.

Curry was considered a potential first-round pick by some draft analysts.

The Eagles previously took California linebacker Mychal Kendricks in the second round. They traded up to take Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox at No. 12 overall on Thursday night.
