Jayden Daniels's status for Week 8 is up in the air, but a Monday MRI showed that the Washington Commanders quarterback avoided a "significant or long-term" hamstring injury, head coach Dan Quinn told reporters.
Daniels exited Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys after his right leg twisted awkwardly when he was sacked by Cowboys linebacker Shemar James in the third quarter. Daniels was slow to get up and favored his right leg as he limped off the field at AT&T Stadium with the help of teammates.
Backup Marcus Mariota finished the game for Washington with Daniels sidelined and would be in line to start Week 8's road game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The hamstring injury is the latest for Daniels amid a frustrating sophomore season. The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year missed Weeks 3 and 4 due to a knee sprain and highlights a list of notable injured Commanders.
Wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quad) has only appeared in three games. Running back Austin Ekeler (Achilles) was lost for the season in Week 2. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel (heel) was inactive on Sunday.
Quinn also said on Monday that defensive end Dorance Armstrong suffered a significant knee injury on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season.
