Colts' Donte Moncrief: 'I'm just scratching the surface'

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Donte Moncrief had his coming-out party last week replacing Reggie Wayne, who was out with an elbow injury. The rookie caught seven passes for 113 yards and his first career touchdown.

However, the talented wideout believes it was just the start.

"I'm just scratching the surface," Moncrief said Friday, per The Indianapols Star. "There's so much more I can learn and get better at. I'm getting better each day watching these three guys in front of me -- watching how they come off the ball, watching how they read defenses, watching how they come out of their routes."

Those three guys currently include Wayne, T.Y. Hilton and Hakeem Nicks.

Given Moncrief's demonstrated upside, we expect him to cut deep into Nicks' playing time as the season rolls on. The rookie has had a couple drops, but his game film is better than anything Nicks has put on tape this season.

Wayne practiced in full on Friday and should be on pace to return Monday nightversus the New York Giants. The veteran's return should relegate Moncrief to three-receiver looks, but there is no question that the Colts found yet another playmaker at the wideout position.
