Chiefs re-sign Knile Davis, place Parker Ehinger on IR

Knile Davis is back where he belongs.

The former Chiefs running back is now the currentChiefs running back after Kansas City re-signed him to the active roster on Saturday.

To make room for Davis, the Chiefs placed rookie guard Parker Ehinger on injured reserve with a knee injury. Ehinger has not practiced since leaving last week's win over the Colts with the injury. Zach Fulton will likely replace him.

Davis returns to an injury-riddled Chiefs running back room. Jamaal Charles is on injured reserve and Spencer Ware is out this week with a concussion, leaving Charcandrick West, Bishop Sankey and Anthony Sherman as the only active backs on the roster.

For much of the season, Davis was the Chiefs' fourth running back, but was traded to the Packers when Charles was 100 percent healthy -- or so Kansas City thought. Davis appeared in two games in Green Bay before being waived. Davis was then briefly signed by the Jets before being waived less than one day later to make space for fellow free agent tailback C.J. Spiller.

Now his three-week exodus has led him back home to K.C. where he is not only wanted, but needed.

In other roster moves, Kansas City promoted linebacker David King to active roster and waived guard Jordan Devey.
