"He's in a groove right now," Roethlisberger said of the team's play-caller on Thursday, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Obviously, we have to execute what he calls but ... I've heard other coordinators talk about it, it's like a player when you're just feeling it somehow. I don't know what it is, but you're just calling the right plays at the right time."
Said Roethlisberger: "He's doing great right now."
It's worth noting that the Steelers abandoned their no-huddle approach over the past two games, huddling between plays to run calls coming directly from Haley. After a rocky start to their relationship, Roethlisberger and his coordinator have helped Pittsburgh's weapon-rich offense rain down points in a way that recalls Peyton Manning's Broncos.
Roethlisberger's 12 scoring strikes over two games are more touchdowns than Russell Wilson, Matthew Stafford, Cam Newton and Andy Dalton have thrown all season. As we mentioned on Friday's podcast, Big Ben has an outstanding chance to blow up the box score again on Sunday against a Jets secondary that looms as one of the league's worst.
Looking ahead to that game, Roethlisberger put it best, asking out loud: "Why change what's working right now?"
