Andre Johnson: 'Houston will always be home'

After 12 seasons with the Houston Texans, Andre Johnson will practice in a new city and pull on a different jersey on game day for the first time in his NFL career.

Following his signing with the Indianapolis Colts this week, the seven-time Pro Bowl receiver thanked the people of Houston in a full-page ad that will appear in Sunday's Houston Chronicle:

"I want to thank the Texans organization, Mr. McNair, my teammates and the City of Houston for your support during these past 12 years.

And especially to the fans - Thank you for allowing me to live out my childhood dream. It was an honor and a privilege to play in front of you every Sunday.

No matter where I go, Houston will always be home. -- Andre Johnson #80"

Johnson has been a stalwart within the Houston community, including his annual Christmas shopping spree for at-risk children.

This situation is another reminder that the NFL can be a cruel, cruel business, but the overwhelming majority of players remain classy.
