Big inside linebacker who plays with good physicality but troubling athletic deficiencies. Powell is well-built with long arms and a willingness to mix it up in the box. He plays with average diagnosis quickness but heavy hands to greet and discard climbers and lead blocks headed his way. He labors with scrape quickness and sudden change of direction but is a firm, consistent tackler when he gets his chance to wrap up. Unfortunately, he simply lacks functional pro speed and allows too many runners to eat up his pursuit angles, leaving him on the wrong side of the play.
