It’s easy to look at the lack of route separation/play speed and question whether Johnson can be anything more than a zone beater in the NFL, but that evaluation misses a lot. Johnson might see more contested catches than you would prefer, but he’s also built to win them. He’s physically strong and plays to his size while utilizing very natural ball skills to beat opponents to the football. He’s often forced out of bounds as a runner because tacklers struggle to bring him down. Johnson is a possession slot receiver in need of better route running. His tools and competitiveness will give him an advantage in a battle for a WR3/WR4 spot.
