Early-down linebacker with clear eyes and good toughness, but a lack of short-area quickness and functional coverage talent could hurt his chances. Cole plays with a high football IQ and operates with the technique needed to play a consistent brand of football. His key reading and blocking-scheme recognition are going to work in his favor, as will his ability to drop his pads and make pre-emptive attacks on climbing blockers. His pursuit range is in question, though, as is his ability to consistently race to spots when he needs to finish as a tackler. He has the mindset of a capable special teams contributor, which could be critical considering his lack of traits and coverage ability.
