PLAYER ANALYSIS
Hardworking interior prospect whose upper-body power and lower-body anchor seem to be slightly mismatched. Whatley comes off the snap with low pads and early pop to rock blockers off balance. He can be disruptive against the run, but lacks the contact balance and anchor to stand his ground against down blocks. The aggression level and motor are a plus and he gives admirable effort to extend his charge as a pass rusher. He's below average from a traits standpoint, but might have the play strength and athletic flashes to garner an extended look in camp.
