Boyd's game is best suited in zone coverage where defensive coordinators can limit his exposure to speed/quickness and allow him to play downhill and with his eyes forward. He will be stronger than many opponents, but also less athletic than most. A move to safety could give him a better chance to succeed as a starter.

Defensive back with intriguing size traits who would benefit from full-time transition to Cover-2 and Cover-3 or a potential move to safety. He's missing the short-area twitch to close and harass throws in man coverage but he's instinctive enough from zone and he's a big, physical tackler. Davis' mental busts and inconsistencies are a concern for a move to safety, but he checks enough boxes to potentially make that move.
