PLAYER ANALYSIS
Thompson is an undersized, weak-side linebacker with relatively pedestrian talents against the run, but intriguing ability on passing downs. Thompson lacks the size of an edge defender or designated pass rusher, but he has natural feel and talent in that area. He has the quickness to stay with basic coverage duties which gives him a shot as a cover linebacker, but he will likely need to be a war-daddy on coverage teams to grab a spot on the 53.
