NFL '13 DRAFT XTRA

The Dolphins selected Boise St. cornerback Jamar Taylor with the No. 54 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft on Friday night. That means they didn't send the pick to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Albert. Unless the Chiefs drastically lower their trade demands, it appears Albert will stay in Kansas City.
The Chiefs have said all along that they believe Albert is a quality offensive tackle and they wouldn't just give him away. They originally wanted the Dolphins' higher second-round pick, but the Dolphins sent that to the Oakland Raiders in the deal to acquire the No. 3 overall pick and Oregon defensive end Dion Jordan.
The lack of a trade is a surprising development, but doesn't mean this story is done. Albert doesn't want to play right tackle, and the Chiefs didn't draft Eric FisherNo. 1 overall to play on the right side. Perhaps the Dolphins could send a 2014 draft pick in exchange for Albert. Perhaps another team could get into the mix and try to trade for Albert as we get closer to training camp.
In short, this drama might not end anytime soon.
