Welker dodges Eisen's invitation to fuel Jets-Patriots rivalry

Wes Welker has shown great ability in evading defenders during his decorated NFL career. The New England Patriots wide receiver was equally skillful Tuesday in dodging a pointed question during "The Rich Eisen Podcast".

Eisen playfully asked Welker if he'd like to send good tidings to New York Jets coach Rex Ryan in advance of Sunday's AFC East showdown.

It was a natural opportunity for the Pats wideout to expand on the line of thinly veiled foot-fetish jabs he sent Ryan's way before last season's divisonal playoff meeting, which resulted in Welker's benching for the game's opening possession.

But Welker sidestepped the invitation for controversy, issuing a stream of classic, engineered Pats-speak.

"Good luck on Sunday! Looking forward to it. It's going to be a great matchup," Welker deadpanned, before asking Eisen: "I mean, can you have set it up any more for me there?"

Welker continued. "I ain't gonna bite, Rich. I ain't biting."

Controversy averted. Right?
