People around here won't want to read this, but Brandon Weeden is actively skipping all NFL Network broadcasting.
It has nothing to do with you, Warren Sapp.
NFL.com's Mock Draft Central
With the combine now in the rearview, NFL.com analysts unveil their attempts at projecting how Round 1 will go on April 26. **More ...**
The Oklahoma State quarterback -- widely projected as the fourth-best passer in the draft and a fringe first-rounder -- simply doesn't want to hear the talking heads prattle on about his next big career move.
"It's all speculation, but nobody has a clue what's going to happen," Weeden told Yahoo! Sports this week. "I haven't watched ESPN since the Fiesta Bowl."
Despite Weeden's ascetic approach to all-things sports media, it was impossible to avoid the Peyton Manning drama, an episode that directly impacts his NFL future. The Broncos, with Manning at the helm, become another nonstarter for Weeden. At 28 years of age, sitting around watching the sun rise and set while Peyton throws ropes is an unrewarding prospect.
Touted for his maturity, the former minor league pitcher is seen by many scouts as a quarterback ready for action, at least for his ability to spray the ball anywhere on the field. Strong arm, tough player, but the age makes him a better fit for teams in desperate need of a quarterback today -- not a passive project.
"You try to get a feel for who (the NFL teams) are, and they try to get a feel for who you are," he said. The rest, he trusts, will take care of itself.
