Buffalo Bills quarterback Vince Young filed a lawsuit in Houston, Texas earlier this week against his former financial adviser, Ronnie T. Peoples, as well as his former agent, Major Adams II, accusing Peoples of misappropriating at least $5.5 million of Young's earnings from 2006 through 2011.
Adams issued a quick denial in response to the lawsuit, claiming that he did not have access to Young's finances. Peoples' attorney, David Chaumette, issued a statement Thursday, according to The Associated Press, describing Young's lawsuit as "hollow" and "without merit".
According to Chaumette, the transactions executed by Peoples' firm were approved by a trustee who had been appointed by Young.
Young was the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. His rookie contract with the Tennessee Titans had a maximum value of $57.79 million, of which Young earned at least $30 million.
Young earned $4 million from the Philadelphia Eagles last season. According to a source with knowledge of his Bills contract, he can earn up to $3 million this season, though only his signing bonus ($350,000) is currently guaranteed.
The former prospect has had quite the eventful career. Between his incidents off the field, his shrinking salaries and now this lawsuit, filed against the people he trusted early in his career, perhaps he should join former Titans teammate Adam Jonesat this year's rookie symposium.
