Tony Romo contract with Dallas Cowboys long way off

It's hard to imagine Tony Romo in any uniform other than that of the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones always pays his stars, so there hasn't been a lot of chatter about Romo's contract.

Breer: Week 2 predictions

Can the high-flying Falcons and tough-as-nails Niners win in Week 2? Albert Breer thinks so. See who else he likes. **More ...**

The last contract Romo signed can void after 2013 and reports surfaced Friday on ESPN that there have been preliminary talks about a new deal. NFL.com and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports via a source that any new deal for Romo is a long way off.

"There's nothing really going on," the source told Rapoport.

Romo already is 32 years old, so this might be his last big contract as a pro. It would be a shock to us if it doesn't get done before he enters his contract year in 2013. (Especially if Romo keeps playing like he did in Week 1.)
