There's more: According to Conor Orr and Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, multiple sources believe it's a longshot that the New York Giants' running back returns to the field.
One unnamed source with knowledge of the running back's medical condition told NJ.com that Wilson "needs a miracle" to return.
The report follows Coughlin's palpable disappointment on Tuesday after the running back left the field, when the coach said, "We were all praying that it wouldn't be an issue."
Wilson injured his neck in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles last October. NFL Media's Kimberly Jones reported that Wilson has an appointment in Manhattan's Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday with the surgeon who performed his neck fusion in January.
The 23-year-old could be another in a long list of NFL players whose careers were stunted before they ever really got off the ground.
