Jake Locker was carted to the locker room after suffering a right hip injury during Sunday's 38-13 win over the New York Jets. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Locker was taken to the hospital for further tests on the hip, per a person informed of the quarterback's status. Rapoport later cited a team source in reporting that Locker would spend the night in the hospital for observation.
The Titans do not believe that Locker has a dislocated hip, Rapoport says. The question is how much other damage was done to the area, and that's what doctors hope to find out on Monday.
With the Titans leading 24-6 in the third quarter, Locker was knocked to the ground on a hit by Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. Locker landed awkwardly on his right leg and laid completely still on his back while trainers tended to him. Locker gave the home crowd a thumbs up as he was carted off the field.
Locker's injury came in what might have been his best game as a pro. The 2011 first-round draft pick was 18-of-24 passing for 149 yards and three touchdowns, all during a dominant first half for the Titans.
