Texans' J.J. Watt wants Peyton Manning on his sack list

We're watching pass rushers rack up quarterback sacks in a flurry this season. Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers has had six in two games and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt leads a laundry list of players with three.

Lombardi: What to make of Peyton?

Watt, naturally, isn't satisfied. He wants more, and he wants them Sunday against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

"I want to have No. 18 on my sack list," Watt told the Houston Chronicle. "That's my goal."

The Texans drafted Watt to serve as the central cog in a defense that faced Manning and the Indianapolis Colts twice a year. Instead, No. 18 watched Watt's rookie campaign from afar in 2011 before fleeing west for Denver.

Manning has taken heat this week for his three picks against the Atlanta Falcons, and a deep ball that isn't winning any distance competitions.

But Manning is still tough to bring down because of that quick release and his ability to pick apart defenses before and after the snap. Manning hasn't diminished in those areas, which makes Sunday's Watt-Manning confrontation an intriguing one.
