The Oakland Raiders' quarterback competition stands out among NFL teams as one that augers season-long depression for the fan base in 2013.
Fourth-round draft pick Tyler Wilson has outplayedMatt Flynnat times, though Flynn has earned Raiders coach Dennis Allen's imprimatur as the clear front-runner nonetheless.
Terrelle Pryor, meanwhile, is making progress, but is "not there yet," Allen said, via Bay Area News Group. "He's got a great athletic skillset, but still some of the finer point about playing quarterback are still what he needs to continue to get better at."
In fact, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on "NFL 32", via Rotoworld.com on Monday, that undrafted rookie Matt McGloin has made a "huge impression" on the Raiders' coaching staff "to the point where he's pushing" Pryor.
It's hardly a surprise that Pryor is falling behind. Bearing little resemblance to an NFL-caliber passer, Pryor no longer is on scholarship without late owner Al Davis in his corner.
The Raiders have to be hoping that Wilson's impressive offseason carries over to training camp and preseason action. In which case Flynn would lose his job to a mid-round rookie in consecutive years.
