Terrell Owens: Tweet to New York Jets not desperate

Terrell Owens' NFL comeback with the Seattle Seahawks didn't pan out. But the man deserves points for determination.

As the New York Jets' offense stumbled toward another loss Monday night, Owens took the opportunity to pitch himself to Gang Green.

Owens' tweet widely was perceived as a desperate act by an unemployed former NFL star. Owens, naturally, disagrees. He sees a Jets team that has Antonio Cromartie lining up at wide receiver. They need his help as much as he needs theirs.

"It's not begging for a job when you know you can still play at a high level, given the opportunity," Owens told TSN on Wednesday. "When you have a defensive back playing offense and running routes, I think that's more desperate than my actual tweet itself."

The Jets signing T.O. would be like setting up two of your single friends who haven't had a date in months, even when you know they won't get along. The intention is good, but an ugly ending is inevitable.
