Mark Sanchez 'stunned' by New York Jets' butt-fumble

We've all laughed at the now-infamous butt-fumble. Mark Sanchez's explanation is good for a chuckle, too.

"I guess (I was) more stunned than anything," the New York Jets quarterback told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "Just like a car accident. I was like, 'Whoa. What just happened?' Then, the ball's gone. It was weird."

Yes. Yes, it was weird.

The play in Thursday night's loss to the New England Patriots has come to symbolize the Jets' season of turmoil, but it was more comical than anything else.

"It's embarrassing," Sanchez said. "You screw up the play, and I'm trying to do the right thing. It's not like I'm trying to force something. I start to slide, and I slide right in the worst spot I possibly could: right into Brandon Moore."

(Leaving those last two sentences alone...)

Sanchez said he hopes to laugh about the play later. That day surely will come after the season.
