Steelers backs Le'Veon Bell, Isaac Redman banged up

Le'Veon Bell has turned heads with an impressive performance in his first career training camp. The lone blemish is a knee issue that continues to linger.

Bell aggravated his left knee injury Thursday, forcing the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back to watch the conclusion of practice with his leg in a wrap. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport hears Bell's knee is "fine," and the issue is considered minor.

It's the same knee that kept Bell out of the Steelers' preseason opener last week. The latest flare-up comes one day after Bell ascended to co-starter status along with Isaac Redman on the Steelers' depth chart. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Redman suffered a stinger in Thursday's practice.

The Steelers' next preseason game is Monday night, giving both running backs time to recover. If one or both players is unable to go, Jonathan Dwyer should see more reps.

Bell did his best Friday to put any concerns to rest, telling the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the injury, though aggravated, wasn't serious.

"It's not as bad as it was," he told the Post-Gazette. "I'll be able to run through it and hopefully get on the field Monday."
