New Orleans and San Francisco are two of America's most joyful cities, always ready to throw down with a good parade, music festival or some sort of Bacchanalia. The good vibes do not extend to the cities' respective football teams, however, who are now starring in the NFL's newest and fiercest rivalry (sorry, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers fans).
The latest salvo was fired Tuesday by New Orleans Saints linebacker Scott Shanle, according to The Sacramento Bee, and it was a doozy.
Responding to San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner, who criticized the Saints for their 'bounty' program Monday, Shanle took to the medium of choice for trash talk these days, Twitter.
First, Whitner's shot: "If you have the right type of guys in that (defensive) room, you don't have to set bounties or pay money for guys to play physical and play hard."
Your response, Mr. Shanle?
"Guy needs to shut his mouth and mind his own business," Shanle wrote. "Don't remember them winning the superbowl. U still ringless. We got one and working on two now. Try to keep up."
