Roger Goodell responds after NFL Twitter account is hacked

The NFL's official Twitter account was hacked on Tuesday, sending out an erroneous message regarding NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before the tweet was deleted.

The hacked tweet stated Goodell had died and it was followed by related tweets minutes later. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy responded, "The @nfl Twitter account was hacked. @nflcommish is alive and well."

The league later sent out a statement related to the incident:

"The NFL Twitter account was hacked," the league said in a statement. "We have engaged law enforcement to look into the matter. We are reviewing and strengthening our cyber-security measures."

Hours later, Goodell jokingly tweeted a response to what happened.
