Our offseason "Roster Reset" series identified right tackle as a position that will have to be solidified if the Baltimore Ravens are going to be one of the NFL's most improved offenses.
As the team wraps up training camp, John Harbaugh confirmed that 2013 fifth-round draft pick Ricky Wagner has nailed down the starting job, book-ending blindside tackle Eugene Monroe.
"He's earned it," Harbaugh said, via the Ravens' official website. "He earned that spot."
With Wagner holding his ground against bull rushers, Baltimore's once-beleaguered offensive line has yet to surrender a sack this preseason. In 41 pass plays, Wagner has allowed one quarterback hurry and no hits, per ESPN.com.
"I think Rick has been solid," Harbaugh added. "Solid is the next step before being good and good is the next step before being great. I think he's on his way."
There are promising signs for the Ravens' overhauled rushing attack as well.
Ray Rice's missing burst has returned. Bernard Pierce is a natural fit for Gary Kubiak's one-cut, zone-rushing scheme.
Meanwhile, Wagner is helping pave the way for a league-high 194 rushing yards per game this preseason.
