The same Rodgers due to earn $9.25 million in 2013, or about half the going rate for a premium quarterback in today's market. That might be about to change.

Citing a league source with knowledge of the situation, ProFootballTalk reported Tuesday that the Packers soon will take care of Rodgers.

The source added that Rodgers' new contract "will set the benchmark that will stand for several years."

We're less convinced about that last part, but Rodgers' days as football's best value might be numbered.
