NEW YORK -- Although the Detroit Lions have turned their franchise around over the past half-decade, the end of the Jim Schwartz era earned a reputation for a lack of discipline and mental errors.
Appearing on "NFL AM" on Friday, running back Reggie Bush confirmed that accountability, preparation and attention to detail were lacking in the second half of the 2013 season.
"I think the culture is going to be the biggest thing that we're gonna need to improve on in our locker room," Bush said. "I don't know if it's gonna be anything really too difficult because we have all the pieces to the puzzle. We have a really good team ... so it's just gonna be about just changing that atmosphere, that culture, getting us to the championship mentality in the way we prepare."
The Lions have the talent to contend for the NFC North title again next season. New coach Jim Caldwell's highest priority is maximizing that talent by instilling discipline and jumpstarting Matthew Stafford's stalled career.
