The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed linebacker Quincy Black on injured reserve Tuesday with a neck injury.

Black left the field on a stretcher during Sunday's 34-24 win over the San Diego Chargers. He was taken to a local hospital and released Sunday night.

Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano said Monday that he hoped Black's injury was not career-threatening.

Black had appeared in nine games this season, starting five.
