Coach Mike Pettine revealed that nose tackle Phil Taylor will be placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a knee injury unrelated to October's arthroscopic surgery. Taylor will have to undergo another procedure next week.
The Browns rank 28th in rushing yards allowed per game (134.2) and 31st in yards per carry surrendered (4.7).
After missing a month, Taylor returned to the lineup last week, helping to shut down Jeremy Hill and the Bengals' ground attack. With defensive end John Hughes on injured reserve/designated for return, the Browns have depth issues up front.
Asked if Cameron will be back this season, Pettine responded, via The Plain Dealer, "You don't know. It's a touchy subject."
Symptoms can come and go, Pettine explained.
The first-place Browns have been short-handed all season. It would have been nice to enter the stretch run at peak strength just in time for All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon to add a jolt of energy.
