Peyton Manning's green ball aims to reduce fumbles

Peyton Manning carried a football covered in green Lycra as the Broncos opened OTAs on Wednesday.

The 2013 MVP did not want to divulge any details, though.

"That's Denver Broncos offensive business," he told reporters, per USA Today.

Manning was seen carrying the ball during the 90-minute practice. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas also carried a green football.

When pressed by the media about it, Manning went grade school.

"Like I said, that's official Denver Broncos offensive business, right? It's kind of an A and B conversation and you can C your way out of it," Manning said.

Well, I'm rubber and you're glue ... oh, forget it.

Unfortunately for the team captain, coach John Fox ratted him out, telling reporters the green footballs represented the team's fumbling issues last season.

"We're making an emphasis from Day 1 on ball security," Fox said, per the Denver Post. "We started with two of our better players in Demaryius and Peyton. What better guys to start with?"

The Broncos fumbled 27 times, losing a league-high 16 in 2013. Manning himself lost six fumbles in the regular season -- and another in a forgettableSuper Bowl performance.

Manning chucked the ball around with ease during his historic performance last season, now his coaches would like to remind him not to fumble away another Super Bowl opportunity.

The latest "Around The League Podcast" breaks down the news and discusses players who could be summertime trade targets.
