Peyton Manning, Jimmy Graham lead players of month

The NFL has announced its players of the month, and one honoree comes as no surprise.

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning won the AFC Player of the Month award for September after torching opponents with 16 touchdowns. Manning hasn't thrown a pick in four games, and he hasn't appeared mortal, either.

We examined the records he's broken and asked on the "Around The League Podcast" if Denver has what it takes to go undefeated this season. Barring disaster, it feels possible.

In the NFC, Jimmy Graham won the honors on offense after hauling in six touchdowns from Drew Brees. The New Orleans Saints pass-catcher -- after being left off the NFL Network's "The Top 100 Players of 2013" -- has proven to be the most dangerous tight end in the game through four weeks. He's just one reason the Saints are unbeaten, untied and very much the favorite in the NFC South.

Here's the rest of September's honorees:

AFC Defensive Player of the Month:Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston

AFC Special Teams Player of the Month:Broncos kick returner Trindon Holliday

NFC Defensive Player of the Month:Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman

NFC Special Teams Player of the Month:Minnesota Vikings kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson

Offensive Rookie of the Month:Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins

Defensive Rookie of the Month:Buffalo Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso
