Patriots might play starters plenty in preseason finale

Most teams take it easy during the final preseason game. Starters don't play at all or they make a one series cameo. New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a little more unpredictable.

The Boston Herald expects Tom Brady and other starters to play plenty on Wednesday night against the New York Giants following a rough preseason outing last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That's the approach Belichick took after the first-team offense struggled in the third preseason game last year.

The Patriots played the Giants in their preseason finale (like most years) and sent Brady out for plenty of work. He completed 5 of 9 passes for 116 yards in the game. No one got hurt.

New England's offense has quietly been out of synch of late, especially on the line. Don't be surprised if Brady and the boys are some of the few NFL stars getting significant work in the fourth preseason week.
