Patrick Peterson: All Cromartie talks about is New York

After watching Todd Bowles dash off for the Big Apple, Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson is doing his best to make sure that fellow cover man Antonio Cromartie doesn't follow suit.

"I'm definitely trying to keep him here," Peterson said of Cromartie, per ESPN.com. "It's going to be tough, especially with Todd being in New York and (Cromartie) loves (New York)."

Said Peterson: "That's all he talks about is freaking New York. I'm definitely trying to get him to stay and we'll see what happens."

With Cromartie set to hit free agency in March, the Jets loom as a team willing to outbid the field for a Pro Bowl defender they once called their own. Around the NFL's Dan Hanzus believes Gang Green might even be plotting to reunite Cromartie -- who played for the Jets from 2010 to 2013 -- with former franchise star Darrelle Revis.

"It's attractive," Cromartie recently said. "My house is there, so it's attractive. But if that doesn't happen, it doesn't happen."

The Patriots have already filed tampering charges against the Jets for commenting on Revis, so don't expect the team to say a lick about Cromartie. With New York's talent-poor secondary looming as a burning need, though, a return to Florham Park feels like a solid bet.
