Panthers owner donates $100,000 to Charleston victims

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson donated $100,000 to the families of the nine victims killed in Wednesday night's shooting at a church in Charleston, S.C.

Richardson donated $10,000 per family of the victims and $10,000 to Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where the incident occurred.

Bakari Sellers, a democratic member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, Tweeted a picture of Richardson's letter, which was dated for Friday, informing the families of his contributions.

Panthers director of communications Steven Drummond confirmed the authenticity of the letter to NFL Media on Saturday.

"We don't want to comment on the specifics of the donation, but know our hearts are one with those who grieve the loss of these individuals," Drummond said.
