Monday's injury roundup: Jake Locker day to day

Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker dislocated his left (non-throwing) shoulder in Week 1 against the New England Patriots. He missed that game, but returned to start in Week 2.

His situation looks similar this week. Coach Mike Munchak said Monday that Locker is day to day after suffering the same injury against the Houston Texans on Sunday. This doesn't look like an injury that will keep Locker on the shelf for long.

Here are the other big injury updates to know from Monday:

  1. Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that wide receiver Greg Jennings is "back where we were" a couple of weeks ago after re-injuring his groin, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. It sounds like Jennings could miss more time, but we probably won't know until Sunday.
  1. New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes will miss Week 5 with his foot injury he suffered in the team's 34-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. It sure sounds like he could miss a lot more time, but details are scarce until he undergoes more tests.
  1. Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz says that defensive end Cliff Avril's back injury should not be a long-term issue. That's great news because it looked serious at the time of the team's 20-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
  1. The Jacksonville Jaguars confirmed wide receiver Laurent Robinson suffered his third concussion since training camp. They cleared him to play in Week 4 after he suffered a concussion just the week before. Don't be surprised if he's out a while.
  1. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick's knee injury is not a long-term concern. It didn't slow him down too much in the team's 19-17 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday.
  1. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall is set to return to action. Linebacker James Harrison is optimistic about playing this week as well after the team's bye.
  1. The Denver Broncos placed starting center J.D. Walton on injured reserve with a broken ankle following their 37-6 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Among his observations from Week 4, Ian Rapoport sees the 4-0 Texans looking like the most balanced team in the NFL. **More ...**

  1. Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is expected to miss another week of action after his pregame knee injury. He hurt his MCL and PCL.
  1. One possible reason Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Flynn isn't starting in Seattle: He's still not healthy.
  1. Cleveland Browns safety T.J. Ward is day-to-day after undergoing surgery on his thumb.
  1. Raiders coach Dennis Allen was hopeful Monday that wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey will return from his concussion for Week 5.
