Minnesota Vikings sign deal to keep training camp in Mankato

Not too long ago, the Minnesota Vikings were considered to be a candidate for relocation. Not anymore, though. The Vikings not only locked down a new stadium deal, on Tuesday the team reached a three-year agreement with the University of Minnesota, Mankato to continue holding training camp on the school's campus for the next three seasons.

The deal runs through 2015, which will mark the team's 50th anniversary at the storied university.

"Being in front of our fans for training camp is a storied team tradition," said Vikings owner/president Mark Wilf. "We appreciate Minnesota State University, Mankato and the city of Mankato for continuing to welcome the team and Vikings fans, and we look forward to reaching 50 years in Mankato."

Training camp for the Vikings will begin on Friday, with players set to report one day earlier. Fan events will be held throughout camp: Family Football Day on Aug. 3, Fan Appreciation Days on Aug. 13-14 and autograph sessions which have yet to be scheduled.

The Vikings break camp on Aug. 14.
